sharepoint branding (skinning)

Customizing SharePoint to make it look the way you want can be a daunting task. That being said, SharePoint can look like whatever you want, given enough time and work.

If you are used to branding a traditional HTML-based website, there is some cross over, but once you start peeling back the layers, there is some heavy lifting going on to make the site work.

To further complicate matters, SharePoint is an evolutionary framework that works the same from version to version in some functional areas, and works completely differently in others.

Keeping Your Existing SharePoint Customizations and Branding

If you are running WSS 3.0 and want to migrate to MOSS, SharePoint 2010 Foundation or SharePoint 2010 Server, customizations and tweaks that you made in your old version have a good chance of not working on the new platform without some work.

That is where we come in. By engaging Netropole prior to cutover, we can let you know potential problem areas and help you with the migration so that you do not loose the investment that you originally made in skinning or branding your current SharePoint site.

If you are having problems with branding, skinning, or creating a custom look and feel for your SharePoint site, give us a call at: 503-241-3499. We can discuss your needs and give you some idea of what time and effort would be required to make your SharePoint branding ideas become a reality.

Netropole was founded in 1994 to meet the needs of medium and mid-market companies that needed reasonably priced Microsoft-based software development, SharePoint Customization, and IT support.

We have been creating SharePoint solutions since the release of WSS, and specialize in delivering exceptional value for the dollar with an interest in developing long-term relationships with our clients. Our growth has been measured and purposeful so that we can focus on projects that are interesting as well as lucrative.

In 2004 Netropole started the Portland SharePoint User’s Group and continues to co-sponsor this active group of SharePoint developers and consumers with Microsoft.

We would love to hear from you if you are planning a SharePoint project, SharePoint 2010 Migration or upgrade, or just need some help getting the most from your SharePoint investment.

Give us a call any time:  503-241-3499 and we will be happy to chat with you.

SharePoint Custom Branding

One of the biggest complaints that we hear from prospects and clients is that out of the box SharePoint installations “...look too much like Sharepoint.” Well we cannot argue with that, and are happy to do something about it.

We have years of experience in making SharePoint not look like SharePoint, and more importantly, not navigating like SharePoint.

One of the most challenging things about SharePoint is skinning or branding a SharePoint site collection or portal, so that it conveys a marketing message and has more visual appeal than the out of the box experience. Often times we are called in after less experienced developers have taken a crack at making things look different, and failed.
